Our story
"It started with watching my dad work. Wood isn't just a material — it's alive in a way plastic never is."

My father has spent his life in wood and construction. Growing up around his workshop, I learned how real timber behaves — how it ages, how it feels under your hand, how it remembers everything that happens to it.

Then I started noticing what was happening to everyday objects: replaced, one by one, with cheap synthetic stuff. Functional, maybe. But lifeless and disposable.

That didn't sit right with us. So we started Arborin — to put a little more natural wood back into daily life, one desk at a time.

How a piece is made

From timber yard
to your desk.

1

Choose the timber

We start at the wood itself. Grain, weight and colour decide what each board wants to become.

Tool: a good eye
2

Cut & shape

Slots for phones, wells for pens, angles for books — measured, cut and test-fitted against the real objects.

Tool: saw & chisel
3

Sand by hand

Three grits, then a fourth. If it isn't smooth enough to keep on your bedside table, it isn't finished.

Tool: patience
4

Oil & send

A natural finish that protects the wood and deepens the grain. Then it's wrapped and posted from London.

Tool: natural oil

Personalise it

Wood remembers.
So make it personal.

A name, a date, a company logo — engraved straight into the grain, not printed on top. It can't peel, fade or rub off.

Most of our pieces can be personalised, and custom requests are genuinely welcome. If you have something specific in mind, message us on Etsy and we'll figure it out together.

on Etsy — we actually reply ✦

Is it really solid wood?
Yes — real, solid natural timber, cut and finished by hand. No veneer over MDF, no "wood-effect" anything. Each piece has its own grain, so no two are identical.
How does personalisation work?
Tell us the name, date or logo you'd like when you order, and we laser-engrave it directly into the wood. It's part of the piece — it can't peel or fade. For company logos, send the file via Etsy message and we'll check it works at size.
How long until it ships?
Pieces are made to order in our London workshop, so allow a few days for making before dispatch. Each Etsy listing shows current making and delivery times — they're the most accurate, especially around gifting seasons.
How do I care for it?
Mostly: just use it. Wipe with a dry or barely damp cloth, keep it away from radiators and standing water, and once a year a drop of natural wood oil will keep the grain rich. Wood ages beautifully if you let it.
Can you make something custom?
Very likely, yes. Custom sizes, layouts and engravings are genuinely welcome — message us on Etsy with what you have in mind and we'll work it out together before you order.
